Carao is the fruit of a wild forest tree found in Central America. Scientific studies, clinical experience, and user reports from around the world indicate that it provides effective nutritional support for blood health, helping the body build red blood cells and hemoglobin. Tropical Health Foods (TM) carao is a pure extract of organic (wild) carao fruit made in Costa Rica by Dulce Salud (Lloyd Standish) using low temperature solar evaporation, to conserve maximum food value. Carao is a natural food, not a drug. The carao fruit product is sold around the world by Tropical Health Foods, an Arizona company. The website dedicated to information on carao fruit for blood health is www.caraofruit.com. The selling website is www.tropicalhealthfoods.com.
Many people enjoy the naturally sweet, chocolaty
flavor of Tropical Health Foods
carao. However, others dislike the strong smell and
flavor, especially the first time it is tried. Most agree it tastes much
better than it smells. Those who don't like it at first usually grow
to enjoy it, especially when mixed with milk. If you dislike the smell
and you are taking it with milk, have someone else prepare it for you if
possible.
Those who dislike the flavor of pure carao taken
off the spoon can try it mixed with milk or soy milk,
following the Costa Rican Carao Drink recipe given on the bottle label.
However, we suggest that for best nutritional value the carao should not
be over-diluted in milk. If mixed in milk, use at most one cup (236
ml) to 2 or 3 teaspoons carao (1 teaspoon = 5 ml).
A tasty
"carao tea" can also be made by mixing the
following:
2 teaspoon carao
1 teaspoon bee's honey (can
be omitted or replaced by another sweetener)
1 cup warm water
(avoid boiling water)
No refrigeration is required after opening. The expiration date is given on the label.
Most adults should take a total of about 4 teaspoons per day, usually in 2 doses of 2 teaspoons each. (one teaspoon = 4.9 ml). This is 2 teaspoons twice per day. At this rate, one large bottle will last 18.5 days. (For dosage in children, see the following topic.)
Since carao is a natural food with no known side effects, dosage is not critical. A few people have reported better results with 6 teaspoons per day instead of 4.
Furthermore, when carao is needed on an ongoing basis, once blood values are in the desired range, it may be possible to reduce the daily dose, or take it less frequently, in order to allow the product to last longer.
Carao has been given to nursing infants with good results. However, due to its similarity to bee's honey, it should be considered that carao syrup may possibly contain spores of C. Botulinum, which is known to cause "infantile botulism" in infants under 12 months of age. It is not known whether or not carao syrup may contain these spores, and there has never been a report of a case of infantile botulism related to consumption of carao syrup. Still, since the presence of these spores in carao syrup is unknown (and therefore possible), Tropical Health Foods does not recommend that carao syrup be given to infants under 12 months of age.
Carao is generally well-accepted by children, and is usually very effective for support of blood health in children.
We do not recommend that carao be taken before breakfast, since in a few people this can cause digestive upset. Also, we suggest that it be taken away from heavy meals, for best digestion. However, it can be taken at any time of the day.
We have seen it to be very effective to improve blood values for those with iron deficiency anemia and anemia caused by excessive blood loss (menstruation, etc.), including some cases that were unresponsive to iron treatment. It has also given amazing results in cases of anemia of pregnancy and anemia caused by chemotherapy, kidney failure, and thalassemia. More recently we have received reports of excellent blood health benefits for those with hemolytic anemia. And a Nigerian pediatrician has recently called it "a new dawn in the management of Sickle Cell Disease and Anaemia." These results suggest that it is beneficial for blood health support in nearly every case of low blood values
Note that carao fruit does not treat or cure any of the underlying diseases or conditions which can cause low blood values. Furthermore, carao is not high in iron. It is still unknown how carao helps the body build healthy blood.
Doctors are generally not interested in nutritional therapies. Modern medicine is primarily based on treating symptoms with drugs, rather than providing the body with nutritional support. Furthermore, carao is still unknown to most doctors and ignored by the medical establishment, except in Central America, where many or most doctors are in favor of its use for low blood values.
Yes. A peer-reviewed scientific study published in a pharmacological journal showed amazing anti-anemia activity in laboratory rats. In addition, there was a study carried out by Dr. Luis Carmona in Costa Rica. Although not a scientific study, there is also the several years of clinical experience, including many "before" and "after" blood test results, by a Pediatrician in Nigeria.
Most people begin to feel greater energy after about 5-14 days. For anemia caused by "iron deficiency" or a non-recurring blood loss event, it usually takes about 4 weeks to show measurable improvement in blood values. (2 bottles is a 5 weeks supply.) For low blood values caused by anything else, it will probably take at least 8 weeks to see to see improvement.
For anemia caused by nutritional deficiency ("iron deficiency" anemia, including anemia of pregnancy) or a non-recurring blood loss event, It is generally not necessary to continue to use carao after blood values normalize. However, if the anemia was caused by a chronic disease condition, you can expect the blood values to tend to drop as long as the disease condition exists. In that case, ongoing use of the carao would be necessary to maintain the benefits in the blood condition. Since carao is a natural food, it can be safely used for extended periods.
Depending on the severity of the
disease condition, the blood-building effect of the carao may not be
sufficient to allow the body to attain normal blood values, but the
benefits should nonetheless be significant.
